This tension sun covering uses light fabric, composite materials, and tension wires, making the structure lightweight modular and packs up into a single 40ft container once disassembled.
How it started
Creating the structure was achieved by parametrically creating lines with points and manipulating the points lines and subsequent faces to create the desired shape seen below. Then an adaptive family was created and placed over the shape to create a staggered formation of the pannels. Then I placed materials exported and created a scene populated with vegetation, some dieeferent material patterns to make the scene more attractive and lively. and I placed animated and path based moving people either walking or on bicycles.
All the components of the structure are made of carbon fiber composites which are lighter and more durable, they can better withstand abrasion and cracking thanks to the correct material composite. The fabric is a high tensile strength poly weave that incorporates the flexibility of the poly-chains and the shading characteristics and the long durability of the blended weave.
Alternate Designs
The following alternate designs were also modeled but the most efficient and innovative design above was selected as the most efficient at blocking the sun while allowing fresh air to enter the structure and hot air to exit through the vents and cutouts.
