This project was inspired by other façade wall pattern based systems. This façade is meant to protect people from strong winds and rain and also inspire people around and inside. the depth is enough that rain at most strong angles will not penetrate the layers of bricks.
Initial Concept
The initial concept was inspired by the sine wave reversing it on the other side and creating a loft between the two curves placing the family with rotational parameters nested. rotating with specific patterns in mind. The first pattern was a bitmap color image then getting pixels and checking the color thus creating an angle per instance. My preferred method was to add some noise to this signal with a random function and this was the final result in terms of processing the algorithm.
Further Development
Two curved lines were added to the telescoping wavy line meant to close gaps on both ends of each connected terminal end. An entrance was cutout and a roof added. The sine waves in this case do not change period along the curved surface and thus the back is planer than the original front façade.
As is visible in this code snippet, the placement of the dots follows the curves of the surfaces as they are hosted on them, thanks to Dynamo this is possible.
Final Iteration
As you can see it took some geometric knowledge, mathematical background and 2 different iteration of walls to generate this project. It can all be packed away in a 40 ft and 20ft containers. I am happy with the final result creating this illusion and suspension from reality by using these shapes and this technology.
