Part ii: Tower Project - Mass Study

The next step in this project is to study a mass additive generative design that moves rectangles by its 3 axes and also physically. The volumes below depict the shape in which Built-Up Area is maximized while not decreasing in heigh more than 8 floors from the highest peak to the 2nd lowest level.

Here is the code required to create the mentioned study above. The code simply creates points that can be manipulated by their x and y-axis. Further, each shape is treated separately in terms of height, width, and depth. The union of the solids in this case into one solid allows the generation of important feedback including floor area, surface area, volume, and or to manipulate further.

Below the study mentioned above is called a #generativedesign. That means simply that there are many layers of solutions that the program optimizes for the desired outputs. As you can see the grey filters demonstrate that we have selected 85 m on the "B1-Height" column which equates to 25 floors at 3.4 m per floor. This aligns with our earlier prediction to result from Part I of a tower with similar features to our massing study in terms of height, terracing tower geometry and optimized thus far. There will be a morphing diagram of the mass study to determine certain facade features at the end.

Morphing Idea

Below you can see what the morphed shape may resemble.

I enjoyed this part it has been great to work with many generative tools for one project and there will be more to come as well. I hope you enjoyed reading today´s blog.
